Annual Report 2014

A bold and transformative organisation is one which has the courage and vision to plan for its long-term future. Since we initiated the Envisioning 2035 planning process, members of our YWCA Movement in every corner of the world have started to shape a stronger, more visionary and results-oriented YWCA with women, young women and girls at the centre. 2014 was a pivotal year in this process.

Annual Report 2013

A young woman subjected to sexual violence in a conflict zone; a child forced into marriage with an older man; another who undergoes the life lasting trauma of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM); women who do not have a voice, whether in their family, community or country; women, young women and girls deprived of their basic human rights, of education, of health, of decent employment and of leadership opportunities as a result of sexual discrimination... these are but a few of the injustices which resonate loudly within the global YWCA movement and epitomise the ongoing challenges faced by the organisation across the globe.

Annual Report 2012

2012 has marked the start of a new quadrennium for the World YWCA and the first year of implementation of the Strategic Framework for 2012-2015. Building on the organisation’s vision and mission, this framework sets three priority goals for the next four years: promoting women’s intergenerational leadership; advocating for women’s rights; and strengthening good governance and movement building.

Annual Report 2011

2011 was a special year for the World YWCA as it was a World Council year. It is a unique event, which brings together the YWCA movement, active today in over 120 countries, and builds momentum, unity and a common direction towards advancing our shared vision. This year crucial decisions were made, directions defined, resolutions passed and opinions voiced, and a process for envisioning the future was initiated.

Annual Report 2010-2011

In the build up to the 27th World YWCA Council and the 4th International Women’s Summit (July 2011), momentum, increased motivation and concrete actions shaped our commitment to meet the goals of the 2007-2011 World YWCA Strategic Framework during the reporting period (April 2010-March 2011).

Lead, Share and Engage; Women creating a safe world. Safe spaces for women to lead, to share, to serve, to influence and to engage is increasingly important in the work of the YWCA movement. The World YWCA Annual Report April 2009 - March 2010 focuses on the the World YWCA continued efforts to create empowering opportunities through dialogues, workshops, trainings and inter-generational sharing of knowledge, experiences and skills at regional, national, and global platforms that leads to the creation of a safer world.

Invest in women. Involve all women. Protect our community. Drawn from the YWCA’s Nairobi 2007 Call to Action on HIV and AIDS, this simple call echoes the key messages the World YWCA has used to frame the efforts illustrated in this annual report.

'Changing Lives, Changing Communities' - the World YWCA Annual Report April 2007-March 2008 is a glimpse into a year where the World YWCA advanced its global priorities on HIV, violence against women, economic justice, peace with justice, human rights and women's leadership.

Empowering Women and Girls: 2005 marked a significant milestone for the World YWCA – 150 years since the YWCA first begun. This anniversary enabled YWCAs in every corner of the globe to reflect on the past and celebrate the dramatic growth and achievement of over a century and a half.
